Missing Children’s Day poker run to benefit local charity

Barney’s of Brandon and Born to Ride Saloon are proud to announce the “Memorial Day Poker Run for Missing Children,” May 25 starting at 10 a.m. The run will benefit Child Protection Education of America (CPEA), a national nonprofit missing children organization based in Tampa.

The ride will start at Barney’s of St. Petersburg, 10411 Gandy Blvd., with four additional stops. At 4 p.m., riders will meet at Born to Ride Saloon, 2015 Seventh Ave. in Ybor City, where various prizes will be given for the poker hands collected. The top prize will be a 20” television set.

Entry for the event – which includes one poker hand – is $10 with additional hands available for $5 each. Pre-registration for the event is available at Barney’s of St. Pete and Barney’s of Brandon, 9820 Adamo Drive.

Prizes will include various gear and equipment for motorcycle enthusiasts, gift certificates to area restaurants and general items of interest like clothing and rounds of golf.

Stops on the poker run will also include: Barney’s of Brandon; Cherry’s, 1701 Alexander St. South in Plant City; The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 33710 S.R. 54 in Zephyrhills; and Born to Ride Saloon. A map with a suggested route will be offered with each entry.

“We are grateful for the support of the local motorcycle community in this event – not only the bikers but those like Barney’s and Born to Ride who helped organize the poker run,” said Vince DiNova, executive director of CPEA.

The nonprofit assists parents and law enforcement officers involved with missing children cases by offering free photograph distribution. The charity also offers safety education events, including fingerprinting using its state-of-the-art ID ME NOW fingerprinting program. CPEA is the second largest missing children organization in number of registered cases in the country.
