In Highland County, Florida, a 2 1/2-year-old boy wandered off the back porch while his mother went inside the house to get shoes.
Andy, a bloodhound donated in 1999 to the Hardee County Sheriff's Office, was scented off the child's tricycle. Andy trailed the child into a grove, where he was found 15 minutes later.
Tuck, a retired bloodhound from the Polk County (FL) Sheriff's Office was used in missing person, escapee, violent crime and arson cases. Tuck scented
successfully on trails older than 24 hours and as long as five miles, over hard surfaces and rural terrain.
